Rose 'Warm Welcome'

Scented, climbing rose with orange blooms. Present from Dad.

Height: 2.1m

A gift. You should never look a gift horse in the mouth. However, you should never encourage gift plants. Bright and cheerful.

Pieris japonica 'Carnaval'

compact shrub with small green leaves that are edged white and turn pink in winter. In spring it has bright red new growth following ivory white flowers.

Height: 1.5m, spread: 1m

Loropetalum chinense 'Fire Dance'

Bushy shrub with red-purple leaves and red spider-like flowers.
Evergreen.

Height: 90cm; spread: 90cm.

Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Tom Thumb'

Low bushy shrub with bronze-purple flushed leaves. Bell-shaped, black red flowers from May to June.

Height 1m, spread 60cm.

Evergreen. Hardy.

Rhododendron 'Sneezy'

Rosy red flowers with black speckles in May.

Height and spread: 1m.

Lime free soil, pH 4 to 7.

Buddleja davidii 'Black Knight'

Large panicles of deep violet-purple flowers from July to October. Attractive to butterflies.

Height and spread: 2 to 3 m.

Cut back previous season's growth to within a few inches of old wood in March.

Cornus stolonifera 'Flaviramea'

Decorative stems of bright yellow/green.

To get the brightest stems, plant in full sun and remove a third of the stems back to ground level each spring.

Cotinus coggygria 'Royal Purple'

Rich wine purple foliage, with deep pink, feathery flower plumes in late summer.

Height and spread: 2.4m x 2.4m.

Can be pruned hard in spring.

Skimmia japonica Rubella

Evergreen shrub with panicles of red buds in winter, which open into small, white, star-shaped flowers in spring.

Height spread: 60cm x 90cm in 5 years.
